Clair Tappaan Lodge Recreation and Education In addition to the scheduled activities, the Lodge is an excellent base camp for the many local recreation opportunities in the vicinity of Donner Pass. Wonderful Recreation Opportunities When snow is not on the ground, Clair Tappaan Lodge is an excellent base for numerous activities in the Sierra. Activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, road/mountain biking, rock climbing, and photography. In the winter, you can rent equipment at the Lodge and cross-country ski right from the back door. The Lodge is also very close to premier downhill ski areas.
